I lie on my bed
Amidst a misty darkness,
Held close by my sheets
My lotion adds to the fragrance,
All as if conjuring to draw me to slumber,
Miserably failing, its an odd day of September.
I look back in time
Espresso for work, no sleep,
My fingers tip-tapping on the keys
Making sense out of a screen.
All the crazy screams
And banters and babbles with the boys
The city looking chiq in its clique
Getting ready for a celebration ahoy!
Unbothered by the heat or the humidity
The city's finest regalia,
Joys chirping
Decorated paraphernalia!
The tiring days in office
The tireless marathons between Court rooms
Stress, sweat and blood
All of which spanned in a span of the moon.
I look back at the day
As casual a day as formal could be
If a day could be anything
Today would be the Broadway Street!
Dancing and singing and hooting,
Dining and sipping and hugging,
Flashlights and finesse,
Some dancing under duress,
Mocktails and cocktails,
Wine and colour,
All of which spanned
In a fleeting tide of two hours!
However the day's not done
Something feels unokay
Like a blank that was meant to be filled
But didn't get its due anyway.
My bags are packed and bed made,
The room feels pleasant but not in shade,
My sheets embrace me but something rejects,
I am starting to figure what the mind reflects,
Something doesn't fit, your voice unheard,
Its you, its you, your voice and my slumber.
